Help Activate $5000 in Local Donation Match for Athens Trails

Giving Tuesday – Donation Match

Dear Trail User,

Over the past few years Athens Bicycle Club has been feeling growing pains ,which for the most part hurt so good. We have more trails, in better shape, than ever before. Our hope for ABC is that we can keep up with the growth for as long as possible. Simply put: to do that, we need to keep increasing our capacity to match the increase in trail miles, which means we need adequate numbers of workers and tools. These two simple things have associated costs. We’ve started investing in promotional events and materials to gain new members, which in the very least helps our budget, and potentially also attracts members who might come out to help with trail work. We’ve also used local donations to invest in tools that make us more efficient. We have two trail work bikes donated by Joey Boyle and have used other local donations to purchase electric chainsaws, brush cutters, and PPE (Imagine for a second a volunteer firefighter candidate showing up and being handed a list of the equipment they must personally purchase! We try not to subject our trail volunteers to that either.)

For the first time ABC is asking our members and friends to directly contribute financially to our effort.

ABC has a unique opportunity right now that you can join on to help immensely with this work. The Morgan family has donated $5,000 to ABC, with the offer of another $5,000 donation if we can come up with a local match. If you deduct your charitable giving ABC is a non-profit 501(c)(3). Please consider making your donation electronically through our website or Facebook page. Analog donations can be mailed to Athens Bicycle Club P.O. Box 624 Athens, OH 45701.

Thank you,
