1. Club members discussed the following details regarding
the 2005 running of the Tour of the Hocking River Valley.
Sag: Craig Watson and Joey Boyle have offered use of their vans
in exchange for gasoline and free tour entry fee. Tim also offered
use of his minivan if everything doesn’t fit in the other
two vans. Mac Stricklen volunteered to call OU Parking Services
regarding parking in Peden Stadium’s lot; indeed we may park
there. Sag drivers are to be determined.
Beverages: Peter Kotses volunteered to see what our options are.
Food: Peter already has talked to Big Chimney Bakery and they
have us on their catering calendar. We need to call one week prior
to the tour with a final head count.
Grocery shopping: Tom Wolf volunteered to do the grocery shopping.
Route: Due to some road closings, we may have to change the route
a bit. Tom will continue to work on route plans.
Map: Fritz Kessler has volunteered to make a TOH map. Aaron Burk
has offered to assist with map-making as well. Tom will communicate
with Fritz and/or Aaron.
Registration forms: Tracy Kitts offered to update the form and
the ABC Web site as well. He will e-mail the form to the listserv.
Club members brainstormed where we could distribute the forms.
We came up with the following ideas (the names next to the places
mean that club member volunteered to take registration forms there):
Ping Center (Eileen)
Wellworks (Eileen)
O’Blenness (Jim)
OU Mountain Bike Club (Mac)
OU Cycling Club (Tim)
Adventure Pursuits (Meredith)
Wild Mercantile (Meredith)
The Wire (Peter)
Athens Bicycle (Peter)
Cycle Path (Tim)
2. Club members discussed the fact that the TOH lost approximately
$300 last year.
After discussion about the fact that the TOH
is an incredibly good value and has not raised its rates in many
years, club members voted to raise the TOH entry fee from $26
to $32. Kids and seniors (over 70 years) ride half price.
3. Treasurer Tina Hall reported that upon transferring
treasurer duties from Peter to Tina they learned that ABC would
need its
own tax identification number.
Tina completed the necessary paperwork.
We are a nonprofit organization, and the tax number is only necessary
for banking purposes (we don’t need to file with the IRS
each year). The ABC address remains 14 W. Stimson Ave., Athens,
OH 45701. The identification number is in Tina’s name, and
will rotate with treasurers.
4. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 23
at 7 p.m. at Chip Krieg’s house. We will finalize TOH plans.
