He will do some checking on SR 124 closing issues.
4. Trail Work
Malcolm called for a Work Party: Saturday February 4th at Lake Hope.
The day will focus on clean-up of a downed tree and a slip on Sidewinder.
Volunteers can meet at the trailhead at 10:00am. Meredith will post
a call for volunteers on the list serve and Pete will notify OMBA.
Malcolm has also received the ok from park officials to go ahead
with a new trail to be called Yosemite. The members discussed their
concerns about a possible Indian mound site on the trail. Meredith
will contact Dave Sapienza to inquire about the site before trail
building moves forward.
Kaleb updated the club on the progress being made on trail building
projects in Strouds Run State Park. He has been in contact with
Phil Cantino and John Knouse, and reports that he has their support
to construct mountain bike trails at Strouds. Kaleb is hoping to
see 12-15 miles of trail open by mid summer. The trail will eventually
link Sundown to the Dam. He noted the trails will need signage.
Suggestions were made to look into a matching funds grant to purchase
trail markers. Kaleb is planning on mapping out the trail with GPS
and marking it with flags to assist volunteers on work days. Joey
suggested work party days every Wednesday a noon. Volunteers can
check with the bike shops for postings.
