Athens Bicycle Club Re-Cycle Program Getting More People on Bikes

The Athens Bicycle Club, Athens City Police Department, Athens City-County Health Department, Cycle Path Bicycles, and the Village of Chauncey partnered to provide 16 donated and refurbished bikes to families in Chauncey this week. Partners anticipate that this “Re-Cycle” program will continue, and are seeking donations of additional used bikes and funds for repairs. While you are Spring cleaning, clear out those old bikes in your garage that your kids have out-grown, and donate them to a good cause.

Action Alert: Comment on Proposed U.S. Forest Service e-MTB Rule

The following is an Action Alert from the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) regarding  a rule change that could impact the Baileys Trail System. The policy experts at IMBA are concerned that the rule could change the designation of trail systems like the Baileys from non-motorized to motorized, thus impacting the ability to receive grant funding to complete the trail system.

A Baileys Trails Call-to-Action from Danny Twilley

If you have experienced the Baileys Trail System first hand or followed it on social media, since the trail opening in late May, one thing is very clear, both locals and visitors LOVE the new Baileys Trails. Athens County should have been the first to the table to commit and fund the Baileys Trails project, but the Commissioners have yet to make that commitment or contribution to the project. We need to reignite the show of support for the trails to the Athens County Commissioners.
